Offering Big School Opportunities in a Small School Environment

One of America’s Top Christian Schools

Valley Christian Schools offers students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade big school opportunities in a small school environment. Established in 1982, Valley Christian provides 700+ students a distinctly Christian education with excellent academics, championship athletics, award-winning fine arts, and a supporting community that encourages spiritual growth and the success of our students in and out of our classrooms across our three East Valley campuses. Valley Christian is ranked as one of the Top 50 Christian high schools in the U.S. and as one of the Top 125 Places to Work in Arizona.

Our mission is for students to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, live like Him, and prepare academically, physically, socially and spiritually, so they are enabled to make a difference in the world.

Valley Christian Schools is accredited by both Association of Christian Schools International and AdvancED.

          Safe Return to School

At Valley Christian, we have been working diligently to create a reasonable and responsible plan for returning to our physical campuses for the start of school on August 17. We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to campus this fall as we seek to return to school as “normal” as possible while keeping our students and staff as healthy as possible. The health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty is our number one priority. Our community is a hallmark of the Valley Christian experience and is the reason we are doing everything we can to bring our community back together in a safe and considered manner.

Given the fluidity of the situation, our plans to safely return to school in August will be constantly evaluated for necessary modifications. These plans embrace current recommendations for returning to school from the Center for Disease Control, Arizona Department of Health Services, and Arizona Department of Education, along with recommendations from our COVID-19 Task Force. Please note recommendations from each of these organizations will evolve between now and August and will be taken into appropriate consideration.

          Testimonials

“Valley Christian changed my life. It revealed to me the value of character in a world that does not seem to believe in it any longer. This school has turned a shy, sad girl into someone on fire for life and thriving. I made friends, found my faith, found a community, found my passion, and found my life. My life will never be the same and I have Valley Christian to thank. It showed me who I wanted to be in this world, and gave me the skills to be able to achieve it. I could not better recommend a school to anyone. Valley Christian was so good to me, and I could not have asked for a better experience.”

          – VCS Senior

“The school is doing an exceptional job in educating our students, and I am inspired by the growth and progress of the school.”

          – U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema

“We are so happy to have found Valley Christian School! A year ago our family relocated from Colorado to Arizona. At the time my husband and I were both working/coaching at an amazing Christian school in Colorado. So, with our expectations very high, we set out in search of a great school and community for our family. Valley Christian very quickly rose to the top of our list and has far exceeded our expectations from day one. If you are looking for a school with academic excellence, professionalism, family-like community and a thriving spiritual culture, Valley Christian is a wonderful choice!”

          – VCS Family

“A parent cannot go wrong with Valley Christian. From athletic programs and social clubs to requirements for community service, VCS prepares children for life as a Christian in the working world. Whether students are college-oriented or not, there is a place for each child at VCS.”

          – The Best Schools

“It is a fantastic place to really develop your faith while at the same time getting a great education. The Bible classes, chapels, and study groups at the school really allow students to grow in their faith. The opportunities at the school are incredible with so many sports, art groups, and clubs that it is so easy for anyone to get involved. The tight knit community of parents and families at the school are super supportive and involved in making Valley Christian a better place.”

          – VCS Senior

“Valley Christian High School was a tremendous blessing to our family. Both of my children had very different needs, and Valley was a great fit for both of them. From great teachers, to awesome extra curriculars , to fabulous athletics, Valley Christian comes highly recommended by this family!”

          – VCS Parent

“I have loved every moment at Valley Christian High School. The school has a family feel to it, and it is easy to get involved. I love that the teachers not only care about your grades, but also your personal life. I also love that the school encourages others to grow in their faith and offers endless opportunities to do so.”

VCS to Welcome Students Back on August 17

          VCS Families and Students,

We thank you for your continued support during these unprecedented and challenging times. We continue to place our hope and trust in the Lord as we make decisions that seek to balance our desire to welcome our students back to campus as “normal” as possible with our charge to ensure the health and safety of all our students and faculty.

Out of our desire to ensure a safe return to campus and in light of Governor Ducey’s executive order for Arizona public and charter schools, the Valley Christian Board of Directors has approved our administration’s decision to welcome students back to our campuses on Monday, August 17. This date is not only in alignment with the targeted in-person start date for public and charter schools, but also for nearly every Christian school in the state.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty is our number one priority. While the situation around the COVID-19 pandemic remains fluid, VCS remains committed to taking the health and safety seriously. This includes following any city, county, or state mandates in place that apply to our school’s operations. Our community is a hallmark of the Valley Christian experience and is the reason we are doing everything we can to bring our community back together in a safe and considered manner.

Leading up to our August 17 start date, we will be engaging in additional training for our faculty and staff to prepare for the safe return of our students to our campuses and provide an enhanced virtual learning platform across all of our campuses should the need arise during the school year.

We are excited to host an all-new Trojan Welcome Week the week of August 10-14 for our students and families. This week will consist of orientation days and activities to prepare for our return to in-person instruction on August 17. To facilitate social distancing, the events will be designed to limit the number of individuals on campus at one time. Your campus principal will communicate specific dates and times for Trojan Welcome Week and other related information specific to your campus. An updated school calendar for 2020-21 will be released shortly, as well.

Again, we appreciate your ongoing support and patience as we address these challenges. We ask that you keep in mind the need for continued prayer and flexibility leading up to the start of our 2020-21 school year. We also want to reiterate our commitment to hold classes on campus for the upcoming school year. As we come together as a community once again, we will love our neighbors by putting needs for safety first. We cannot wait to welcome our students back on campus this fall and provide our distinctly Christian education that has made VCS the No. 1-rated Christian school in Arizona by Niche.com.

We will communicate any changes and additional information by Friday, July 10, as decisions are finalized.

Additionally, all VCS Athletics and activities (including camps/clinics, practices, trainings, etc.) will be shut down until July 19. We plan to re-open athletics and activities on Monday, July 20.

We are excited to partner with you in the education of your children again this fall and cannot wait to safely welcome them back to campus. We ask that you keep in mind the need for continued prayer and flexibility leading up to the start of our 2020-21 school year.

Update on June 24 Graduation Ceremony

Class of 2020 Graduates and Parents,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the June 24 graduation ceremony. We had a limited number of RSVPs for the additional ceremony. Based upon the RSVPs and results from our graduation survey at the end of May, we will no longer be hosting that event.

Graduates are encouraged to come by the Valley Christian High School Office next week anytime on Monday to Thursday from 8:30am – 2:00pm to pick up a Gift Packet, including your yearbook, from Administration and drop off their rented gown. Gowns must be returned no later than 2:00pm on Thursday, June 25. We will also be working on producing a video of the May ceremony that includes our valedictory and salutatory speeches and senior awards.

We understand this may come as a disappointment to some, but given the number of graduates committed to attend, we believe this is in the best interest of all involved. While we wish the circumstances were different surrounding graduation this year, we are very thankful for the opportunity we had in May to gather together and celebrate our incredible Class of 2020!

Our Calling to Act Justly, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly

Valley Christian Schools mourns the inexcusable and unjust death of George Floyd last week. We cannot dismiss this as an isolated incident or remain silent about the deeper racism that lives within our country and divides us.

          The Apostle John wrote,

“For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

As a community of Christians, we must recommit to putting our words into actions. We must choose to lead in our communities and demonstrate the qualities that Christ has taught us – especially those of love and respect. We stand in unity with those who are peacefully protesting this injustice and call on our nation and communities to ensure equal justice under the law.

To members of our community who are involved in law enforcement, we again thank you for your important role in protecting and serving our communities. We ask you to be a continual light in our community while justly demonstrating authority.

We also must condemn those who seek to exploit this tragedy by looting, burning buildings, destroying businesses, and causing injuries or death. As the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans, “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”

Sadly, our country is deeply divided and in turmoil, but we hold firmly to the belief that this is an opportunity for our community, and Christians nationwide, to be bold and courageous — to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.

          Phase 1 Re-Opening of Campuses

As part of our phased re-opening plan, the following “Phase I” procedures will go into effect beginning on Tuesday, May 26 for all our campuses.

As part of Phase I, all employees, students, and guests on our campuses will be required to check and record their temperature. Employees can check-in at the front office to be temperature checked during normal business hours. If employees will have a group of students on campus, they can sign-out a no-contact temperature scanner to check and record the students’ temperatures – those students do not have to go through the front office.

While on campus, strict social distancing is in effect (6+ feet of separation). Face masks are currently optional for employees and guests. If you cannot guarantee proper social distancing, you must wear a proper face mask.

In Phase I, groups on our campuses are limited to no more than 10 people. Again, if you cannot guarantee proper social distancing (> 6 ft), the group must wear proper face masks.

While at VCS, frequently wash your hands, cover your cough or sneeze, and avoid shaking hands. If you are sick or feeling ill, please stay home.

Also beginning on Tuesday, May 26, our athletic facilities will be opening for limited, individual training of groups no larger than 10 people. You can see the current “Return to Play” phasing and requirements for coaches and student-athletes on our Athletics website. Students and coaches will check and record their temperatures at their athletic facility prior to training.
